Young couple with four kids and a tight budget. Renovation of the living room, dining area and balcony.
PROJECT DESCRIPTOIN

The couple living here is intelligent, hard-working, passionate and charming - and their apartment didn’t reflect any of it! My mission here was clear: fill the apartment with all the soul and depth the couple posses.
The first thing I did was look for colorful content. We bought African face masks from a local Ethiopian artist and unique propaganda collages made by another local artist, both of which added splashes of color to the space. We complemented these items with ethnic-style carpets and pillows. With just a few small additions, the space transformed from bland to one bursting with life and spice.
My other main focus was the balcony, which was then being used as storage for the children’s toys. I wanted to give the family another space to enjoy. I created a smart storage space within the apartment instead. I replaced the synthetic grass in the balcony with parquet flooring. I lined the balcony with plants and added scattered lighting that weaved throughout these plants. The result was truly magical!
